Kadet 2 Kit Fitting
« on: January 10, 2020, 08:35:04 PM »
My Kadet 2 kit (for my 75 SP01) arrived today. Are there any good videos available showing the filing/fitting for the Kadet 2? I found only this one from “sootch00”.

Also, the kit came with two slightly different slide stops both marked .22LR. Why are they different?

You don't really need a video. Just slide it on and the sections it gets stuck on that matches the areas in the instructions file down.  Do little by little while test fitting that's what I did.

OK, why 2 different slide stops?

To accommodate both the compact and full size frames.

There are no instructions on which stop to use. I picked the one with the slightly shorter stop pin (closer in length to the 9mm stop) and it seems to work fine.

So I carefully filed the adapter rails and then polished them with some 2000 grit sandpaper. The adapter fit is good but it’s surprisingly difficult to grasp and rack the slide when the hammer is depressed, due to both the small surface area to grasp and the stiff hammer spring. Once the hammer is back the slide is much easier to operate.

I also have considerable difficulty removing and reinstalling the .22 slide stop. I need to use a pin to push it through whereas the 9mm slide stop can be pulled by hand once it’s flush with the frame on the other side.

Agreed.  They did a much better job on the shadow 2 kit.  Much more area to rack the slide.  I like it a lot more.
