Cursed Parts
« on: December 04, 2019, 01:43:53 PM »
Tried to order a MagPul M-Lok QD sling swivel socket (MAG606) for my SCORPION MICRO, from Amazon along with a bunch of other stuff first week of November. First, everything else on my order shipped except for the MAG606. Finally got notice that the MAG606 had shipped with the tracking info and within 24 hrs the order had disappeared, apparently lost/stolen before making it to the shipper.
To Amazon's credit they didn't skip a beat, they immediately re-filled the order and sent another tracking number. After the second order had been shipped and tracked for about 5 days, it once again just disappeared from tracking. After 7 more days I was given the option of a refund or a reorder with the caveat that the MAG606 was now out of stock. Refund requested and received within reasonable time.
Third time is the charm right, placed an order with Brownell's for the MAG606 along with 1 other item and against my own good judgement, decided to give them one more chance at using their "FREE SHIPPING" option. Big mistake. To Brownell's credit, they did fill the order and ship within 2 days but the "FREE SHIPPING" option is UPS SUREPOST which is the worst shipping option possible. UPS did their job at getting the order to the Urbancrest OH transfer point to USPS, which is about 50 miles from my house. However, USPS then shipped the item right past my local post office to Cincinnati OH, which is about 30 miles from my home, E of Dayton OH. Looking promising, WRONG. Next tracking entry, the item is in Manchester MI (WTF), and it's been there since Dec 2, with no signs life.
This quest to obtain MAG606 began the first week of November but I'm beginning to believe that the Mag-Pul MAG606 is cursed or is destined for the Bermuda Triangle. >:(
Sorry for long vent, I'm retired, bored and have been waiting for the MAG606 to reassemble my MICRO, after taking it apart to hopefully fix the loosening faux suppressor issue for good.

Man, I feel for ya, and been there on both ends of the equation.

USPS Surepost is the "handoff" service that uses Fedex and/or UPS as part of the delivery chain.  Most likely what happened is there is a local UPS/Fedex hub in MI that is the transfer point for the final shipping.

That being said, Brownells needs to ditch Surepost.  99% of their issues are the sloooooow time and wierd routes Surepost takes and the vast majority of complaints they get are from the use of the Surepost system.  Been victim to it myself, and we even do OEM work for Brownells!

On an aside we once had a package we shipped from our shop to a customer in Oklahoma via USPS Priority.  He contacted us a week later and said he hadn't got it and something was wrong.  I checked the shipping number and it had gone right past OK to California...and onto Hawaii!!!

It did eventually circle back, we can only assume it got put on the wrong truck and then onto a plane and decided it wanted a few days in the sun before being delivered....go figure!

Hope you sling mount gets there soon...maybe we can sacrifice a SIG MPX to the Gods to gain you some favor(?)  :)

Just for curiosity, todays update, package is still alive, only now it's in Warrendale PA (again WTF) 250 miles away. Folks, these are your tax dollars at work here. USPS keeps going back to Congress to get more operating funds because they are bankrupt and can't figure out WHY.

If you include a box of .22LR ammo in your orders, then they can't use Surepost/Smartpost and have to use conventional ground delivery.

Oh, that's good!!!  Maybe best information about online ordering all year.  I'm going to try this today.

I also signed up for UPS Premium (or something like that), that allows you to convert UPS Surepost to ground for free.  FYI, Doesn't really speed anything up, just changes the tracking online.

Hey now that’s strategy! One can never have too much 22 either [emoji106]
