Winchester Action Pistol (WAP)

Anyone have any experience with WAP ? I know it's old. I'm sure there is some 9mm load data for it. I've ran across some for about $5 a poun :-[d, enough to last a very long time.

Silhouette is the improved WAP. Use Silhouette data.

I've been loading WAP in 9x23 Winchester.  It's a good powder, and as noylj says, it's now marketed by Western Powders as Ramshot Silhouette.  There may be some lot to lot variation, so it's a good idea to work up data.

If you're able to get WAP that has been stored properly for $5.00 per pound, you better buy all you can.  If it was within driving distance, I'd race you for it...........

I've never used WAP, but have used a fair amount of Silhouette. 

If you are looking for a powder to barely make Powerfactor for competition, this isn't the powder you want.  In my experience, there was quite a bit of unburnt powder in the lower end of the load window, but it cleaned up nicely in the upper half.  If you like to shoot full tilt 9mm loads, this is a fantastic powder.  Ramshot lists +P data for this powder, which can achieve 1,200 fps with a 124 grain bullet.  This is also a powder used for 9mm major in custom built, compensated guns.

Personally, I really like the powder.  It meters like a dream.  The Ramshot data was pretty close with lead bullets, IIRC.  It's also great in .40 S&W.

So are you going to share your source once you get your fill of WAP?  I'm sure it's a private party but if it's close I'd be down for a road trip.

I have noticed an interest in WAP powder. I use to reload in the 1990s but stopped. Now that I am older and have a huge reloaded supply. I need to divest myself  of 2 each 8 pound containers of WAP that I bought. When God calls me, my wife would not know what to do with the powder and I would rather they go to someone who pops caps than to go to the Hazardous division of the landfill. If you live near Memphis, that would help. One barrel has the seal intact. The other has been broken but I have 1eaß 1 pound can that is still sealed and another 1 pound can that has been tapped. They have been stored in my office, in air conditioning, since I bought them. I also have the Winchester load data sheets attached to the barrel.

Silhouette is one of the powders we tested in 9mm. It did REALLY well.
