Need Rear Sight Advice!
« on: December 26, 2019, 05:40:24 PM »
My wife is deadly with her Sig 320RX 9mm red dot but saw, and fired, a Urban Grey Shadow 2 and fell in love with the weight and trigger! Santa was good to her as she got one for Christmas! We went to the range today and I put the firearm in a Hyskore pistol rest and it fires to the left at 10 yards, where she usually shoots. The manual states that the firearm was factory fired at 25m. I read many horror storys regarding moving the rear sights such as heating the sights, using a hammer and really slamming the sight dovetail, using a sight pusher, etc. By the way what is the best sight pusher as most get poor reviews. Has anyone had success moving the sight without scratching the firearm and beating it to death? Also, can a red dot be installed on a CZ and has anyone installed one? I usually never purchase a firearm with non adjustable sights but my wife loved the firearm. Or is my best bet to send it out to CZ Customs or another CZ firearm repair such as Cajun Customs?

CZ Custom has a CZ sight adjusting tool made by CZ USA. It is not made to install the sight but it will push adjustments. NOW the trick to not mark your sight while pushing is to use a piece of an old credit card. It will not leave a mark. I used to use a piece of chamois but you have to know that it can leave a mark.   I got this CZ adjuster from CZC and it’s like $90. It’s a buy once cry once.

I’m thinking I may pick up one of these to try out. .....but on all my CZs I use their tool to adjust with.

We've removed a looooooot of rear sights from Shadow 2's. They're usually not very tight at all once the two set screws are loosened. Definitely nothing that requires a sight pusher.

Also, yes, CZ's can be milled for red dots. ;)

I've got one like this:https://www.amazon.com/NcSTAR-VTUPRS-Universal-Pistol-Sight/dp/B01HU4NNDE/ref=pd_sbs_121_t_0/143-1516376-8509507?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01HU4NNDE&pd_rd_r=88d30e79-5825-4d7e-b403-032b0c699c63&pd_rd_w=3mbTv&pd_rd_wg=QSZjA&pf_rd_p=5cfcfe89-300f-47d2-b1ad-a4e27203a02a&pf_rd_r=BA6NHAA2RBDAQW8NT5CW&psc=1&refRID=BA6NHAA2RBDAQW8NT5CW

Works on rear sights only, but does a good job. It has come in handy many times at the range.

I also have the NC Star linked above and it has worked great on 6 rear sight removals / installations so far. Just make sure to lube the threads before you use it the first time.
