New SP-01 owner with upgrade questions
« on: December 08, 2019, 11:45:11 AM »
Hello guys, I purchased a SP-01 manual safety yesterday and sent around 200 rounds down range.

This is my first CZ and I am really impressed.  There are some areas I would like your help improving.

The only use for this gun is target shooting for accuracy not speed.  The first thing I would like to address is a nice set of precision adjustable sights.  I am not a fan of the night sights that came on the gun.

I also would like to shorten the trigger travel as well as lighten the pull some, and while I am at it change out the tightly curved trigger with one that is a bit straighter.

I have been checking out CZ custom shop as well as Cajun Gun Works but it seems a lot of there upgrades and packages are aimed more at speed and I am concerned more with accuracy.

Thanks guys!

My SP01T is at CGW right now for their Pro package. It provides the 85 trigger and does wonders for both the DA and SA trigger- I know this based upon my experiences with their similar work on my P01 Omega and PCR.

Believe it also includes a short reset as well.

Recommend you give them a call. Great folks to deal with- superb customer service, with great products. They can address your comments and recommend what’s right for you.

Good luck

I have no experience with CZ Custom but I do have a PCR that CGW did an in house pro package upgrade. The trigger is smooth rather than grooved like factory trigger (I guess it's an 85 like Tanners Owner said), DA trigger travel is shorter, reset is shorter and both DA and SA pull is lighter. To me the greatest improvement is no creep when SA breaks. The single action has easy take up, I feel the wall, it breaks crisply and then stops with no over travel. SA pull is about 3.5 lbs.

Like you I don't care for CZ'z factory sights, I opted for Dawson tritium sights for the PCR that CGW has but I'm not using my PCR for range. If I wanted precision sights I think I would have gotten a red FO front post and rear all black adjustable sight.

Hope this helps :)

For precision, I would look into the

1. CGW 10X bushing

2. The LPA sights recommended above are good, but their rear sight notch is not deep enough. I have both, and prefer below adjustable sights

Although, for precision work, front plain black works best for me. You could ask CZ Custom to swap them, or just add a plain black

You could also look into CGW offering (dawson sights), but I have not used these.

Do ask them about matching front sight of your choosing

3. Trigger
I prefer SAO trigger for precision work. It changes the feel altogether.
For slightly less curved, but SA/DA, the 85 combat trigger fits the bill

SAO options:

I have tried the flat straight trigger, and ended up not liking it. I prefer the slightly bent SAO trigger, shared above.

4. Hammer
The competition hammer is the single most important component for an excellent trigger

I have posted links for both CZC and CGW.
You can check out their websites, both are excellent to work with. I would send them my pistol, and let them do the mods.
