Match Grade Barrel
« on: February 08, 2020, 03:31:57 PM »
I'm not having much luck on Google. I recall back in 2015 that a match grade barrel was being produced. Perhaps it was CZCustom.com - but I see no such product on their website now, or maybe my memory is wrong all together.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

The only aftermarket barrels I've see so far are HBI's and In Lead We Trust and I believe there same barrel.

The factory is a pretty bleep good cold hammer forged barrel. At least better then my skill level anyway.

The factory barrel cut to 5.3” is much like the tavor rifle at 100 yards. Capable of 2-3 moa but no consistency what so ever. Trying to take any steps possible to gain some consistency at ranges 50-100 yards

Are you shooting from a rest?  Lead sled or sand bags?
At 100yrds my 7.7 with octane 9 will shoot handloaded 147gr to 2.2"  and Browning 115gr 2.7" center to center from a locked and anchored rest.  This is spectacular from a 9mm round with it's poor ballistics.  Ammo choice is the deciding factor with 9mm.  Some of the match ammo is not liked by the chf barrel.  Atlanta 147 is under 3".

Yes, from a rest position. In our agency training courses we are issued 124gr AE standard loads (I carry higher quality while on duty). Its all a roll of the dice, sometimes its 2-3moa, and other times not. Again, just no consistency when using the same position, ammo, and breathing / break points, and same holdover position.  I have no doubt some is going to be shooter induced, but from thousands of rounds of 124gr AE and from different shooters the results are the same. After a couple hundred rounds or so the groups open up even worse, but that is resolved by running a bore snake through the barrel due to shooting suppressed 100% of time and the barrel getting a bit dirty.

Since I use this weapon as a means of work, I want to take advantage of everything possible.  Up to 50 yards it is a tack driver no issue.

Only other mods I run are an HBI trigger spring kit.

Now to be fair, I do run a Meprolight M21 optic w/ the REM add-on, which isn't going to give you precision at 100 yards, but I run the OPEN X retical so getting the same hold over is easy.
