CZ 83 .32 ACP Ammo
« on: April 18, 2020, 09:34:12 PM »
Has anyone had success or recommends ammo besides S&B, GECO, & Fiocchi for the .32 ACP CZ 83.  I have had success with these brands but was interested in trying others as there are ammo shortages.  Thank you. 8)

There is a slight difference in the rim dimensions between European 7.65 Browning and domestic .32 Auto. You will need to test if the extractor on your pistol likes the US brands.

I've been building fairly accurate 32ACP from N310 and Berry 71gr bullets. I've not put them up against any factory ammo, but I'm happy.

I get 3600 shots from a pound of powder !!

I bought one of those Beretta 81 when they first hit the market last year, they are cambered in 32 acp.  Anyways, am debating about reloading this caliber, but correct me if am wrong but doesn't the American and Euro ammo also have different bullet diameters?

SAAMI max bullet dia. is about .003" greater than CIP max.

That doesn't necessarily mean the bullets are manufactured to max.

I bought one of those Beretta [Model] 81 when they first hit the market last year, they are cambered in 32 ACP.

I got one of those also. What a fantastic deal on a fantastic pistol  !! My pistol from Classic Firearms was virtually unused.  https://www.classicfirearms.com/beretta-mod-81-pistol-surplus-used-good-very-good/

Anyway, I've been loading mine with StarLine brass and Berry bullets, and have not had a single issue.... except for loosing a lot of the microscopic brass !! I would love to try some jacketed bullets, but in the 70-75gr range they are very hard to find, and expensive when you do.

I did happen upon a deal on some 86gr Hornady, but I can't find any ACP load data. Apparently from all my reading, all the blow-back guns like the low 70's. The heavier bullets are for the other flavors of 32 cal... and there are a double handful.

If you do decide to reload, it's not a highly sought-after caliber and I have noticed that used reloading dies are plentiful and cheap.

I have a Vintage 32 Seacamp pistol that was made to fire one cartridge the Winchester Silvertip so most other ammo won't fit the magazine. During our last ammo shortage I was down to my last box of Silvertips and didn't want to waste them on paper targets so I loaded my own with 60 grain gold dots and Starline brass. The two powders that worked for me were Power Pistol and Bullseye both powders worked the action and were accurate in my Seacamp and my 1903 Colt pocket model.

I appreciate the responses to my post but folks are discussing different pistols.  Does anyone else have success with American ammo and the CZ 83 in .32 ACP?

 :) :) :)

I run PMC Bronze 60gr JHP through mine and it's 100%.

I have shot every brand of ammo there is in both my CZ83 and Beretta 81 without any issues ever, except for maybe a couple minor circumstances with Winchester Ammo. I prefer Geco for the soft shooting feeling and will stay away from Maxx tech which seems to be the hottest. Then again I am talking range preferences. Maybe a hotter round is what you would want for self defense.
