Czechmate won't fire after first shot?
« on: December 11, 2019, 04:02:57 PM »
At the range the first shot is fine and it fully cycles but the trigger acts like the gun isn't cocked. The hammer is cocked but pulling it back and letting it back in position it then fires.

Guessing the disconnector is sticking from a build up of gunk?

Check your pretravel and over travel screws. Your Czechmate is a single action only pistol.

Hey George16:

You were right on target. It was the over travel screw needed just a little backing off maybe 1/8th turn...now it consistently resets when cocking the slide. Now that I get it I'll fine tune it at the range and be prepared if it gets out of adjustment again.

George, you saved me from a huge and maybe expensive hassle getting this figured out without having to send it off etc.

Thank you so much!!!

Well, seeing that the OPs issue is resolved and this is probably relevant to the OP, I will ask a question about the set screw.

What do you guys use to keep the screw secure?

I've tried blue loctite and it eventually gets loose.

I took out the overtravel screw on my czechmate and shadow 2 since the triggers are metal and they tend to walk out. However, I kept the overtravel screw on my TSO since I’m still using the polymer trigger and it stays in place.

I've updated my TSO's with metal triggers and CGW floating trigger pins.  I use blue loctite to hold them and they haven't moved yet.  I also check that the hammer clears the sear and the trigger resets properly (when I remember) while cleaning the gun.  It takes no time and is good piece of mind.  I haven't touched the set screws since they were initially set.

Cheers,
Toby

Hmm... ok. I don't have a TSO but do have the old style trigger with the 2 set screws on 2 of my SP-01 manual safety pistols. I guess maybe the blue loctite I have may be bad or I didn't let it set long enough before I used the guns.

how well did you shake it before applying? blue loctite will separate in the tube and needs a really good shake to mix.

Also, may want to make sure you degrease the screw and screw hole.

As cntrydawwwg said, make sure you clean the screw and hole properly. There's another thread about this and some will argue for blue, but I've found it works great until it doesn't. I use Red 262 as it's resistant to solvents unlike blue. Apply, install the screw and wait 24hrs before shooting. Removing later isn't a problem,  just heat the screw and it'll break loose.
