An Idea for a different backup site... See All open sight
« on: October 20, 2019, 06:28:17 PM »
I’ve always hated having to run backup irons sights on any platform.  I know you need them and I’ll always run them, but I rarely use them and when I do train with them I don’t enjoy it.  They look bad too.

So the other day I was at the range with a buddy who was testing a “See All” open sight on his AR.  Never heard of it or seen it before.  I immediately thought it was another junk gimmick, until I shot it.  It took a minute, but I have to admit I liked it.  Now I don’t like it enough to replace any of my primary optics, but maybe a cool backup?

I did a little research and it’s appears the Gen 2 is apparently very rugged, it doesn’t use batteries and has a tritium insert.

My thought is a 45 degree mount on my Evo or my ARs, and run it as my backup.  I know I’d train with it more.  I haven’t see anyone do this yet.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the heads up on this, never heard of it before. After seeing this post I did a little research and it looks interesting. I'm most likely to get one for the cheap price just to check it out, Thanks.

I couldn't help myself and ordered a See All Nite sight. They just happened to have a 50% off so I got a Tritium sight for $100 normally $200 with a 30 day 100% money back guarantee so you can't
go wrong. It's ok on a handgun (will take some practice) but I put it on my Evo just for fun, rock solid. It is a very low profile, and it is visible in all light conditions. My Evo is a SBR with a factory stock when I shoulder the weapon the Delta sight is right there with no movement needed to find the sight. I'll take it out next week and site it in and run it to see how it works. Pick it up and just shoot no switch's, batteries, or electronics to fail and it seems well built and very simple. We'll see if I'm still jazzed with it after going to the range.

I took the EVO out today with the See All Sight. I was shooting off sandbags today and the 1st thing I did was sight it in. There are 75 minutes  in both up and down adjustment as well as 75 minutes of both left and right, there are no clicks to the adjustment. There's a learning curve to using this thing, it's like a red dot on a handgun searching for the red dot in the sight. Its not as pronounced on a rifle so this took very little time. My sight is the Delta or triangle sight, there are 2 lines that intersect the top point of the Delta which naturally draws your eyes to the delta. Remember keep both eyes open, once acquired you can close one eye to take a fine bead with the top Delta point. I was surprised of how precise I could get it. I was shooting at a public range and sighted in at 20 yds so I had to wait for a cease fire to move the target out further. In the mean time I saw a small rock at the 100 yd berm and basically sighted it in at 100 yds. I did change the paper target to 50 yrds and fine tuned the sight in there. There seemed to be enough friction on the sight adjustments to keep them locked in, time will tell. Overall I am impressed with the sight, ease of operation the only problem I had is the sight is very short and I had to really get down on the sight. I see a riser in my future with this setup. Every time I go out with the Scorpion I am blown away with the accuracy of this gun. I will keep it zeroed at 50 yds I figure most shots will be a lot closer than 50 yds but I would not hesitate to take it out to 100 yds if needed. So this is my 2 cents worth, if your looking for an inexpensive sight I would not hesitate to get this sight.

Definitely interesting sights.  I have a few.  I tried subbing them for dot sights.

I got the accuracy, but missed the speed so the dot sights are back.  I run them on plinkers now - basically everything I won't grab for defensive duty.

IMO, they can sub for a dot sight in a pinch.  I find the Delta reticle is faster than the T reticle.

I hadn't thought 'bout running them as backups and may give this a go some time.

My overall rating is: absolutely worth trying.

Just got mine in the mail.  Is there a trick to having a clear reticle with these? I can see it, know its there, its just really fuzzy.  It gets a little better the farther away I can get it but it can only be so far away mounted on a rifle

Not sure if this helps, but I feel BUIS on a small home defense rifle is kinda pointless. Under stress it’s natural instinct of point and shoot in close quarters. If your optic fails in a zombie apocalypse and you need accuracy, well I’m sure you can acquire some BUIS and zero em in.

Got it mounted and sighted in on my WASR 10/63 UF (AK with underfolding stock) today.  Got it figured out now and can get a good sight picture. Zeroing it was fascinating but easy once I stopped adjusting the wrong way. Didn't get a chance to shoot after zero at 25yd

I run a couple of the older versions on a pistol & carbine. The one on the pistol is several years old and seems to be holding up well.

A good design, light, no batteries or electrics to fail. I like chevron reticles and my shift carbine has a Blitzkreig chevron sight post. Good sight for astigmatism too, no blur or bleed.

Downside is you can’t see thru the sight so it does block some of your target. Also the mount setup is kinda odd, doesn’t clamp on rail but slides on with a set screw that comes down thru the middle. Works fine on mil spec rails but some lightened rails that are scooped out/scalloped in the center don’t hold.
