Shadow 2 thumb safety
« on: January 09, 2020, 07:23:01 AM »
I recently replaced the thumb safety on my Shadow 2 with wider thumb safety provided by CZ. My question is that I hardly feel a detent when engaging the safety, everything functions properly just wondering if I screwed something up during the install process.

There is a spring and detent in the left side of the frame which works for either safety you have installed. The tension should be the same on the wide as it was on the thin.  You would have had to push that detent/spring backwards in order to have installed the new safety.

No, to have properly installed a safety with that spring/detent in place where it belongs, you have to push backwards on that spring/detent for the safety to go into its position. So, if you were able to instal it and didn’t have to push backwards on the spring/detent with a tool you likely had that spring:detent fall out and it’s not in your gun which is why you don’t feel spring tension on the safety

I do remember pushing back the detent and installing the spring but I don’t feel any tension. Not sure what happened I think I’ll take it apart again.

If it’s installed correctly, you can order an extra power spring that will help. Think it DSpearing.com

That’s normal after installing the extended safety (provided it was installed correctly) since you have more leverage now.

Order the extra power safety detent spring from DSPerman, com.
