Thanks, Tim.  I appreciate your comments.  3 weeks and counting at CZ-USA.  They projected 4-6 weeks.

Will they give you the old slide back?
I could try welding it back together for you (free) and blending it so it doesn't look fixed.

No guarantees it would work well though. Just a fun project.

I’ll see if they return it.  I appreciate the offer and agree it might be a fun project - especially if their solution is to convert to 9mm with a replacement slide.  It’s a Franken-Gun, anyway, as CZ previously replaced the barrel, so numbers no longer match.

Looks like my episode is coming to a close.  CZ-USA is shipping me a replacement CZ 75 Compact in 9mm, replacing the .40 S&W with the cracked slide.  They keep and destroy the old firearm, which is more than reasonable.  I’m a happy customer, but we will have to forego any experiments with repairs.  Thanks for your comments and advice on the journey!
