New PCR, sight questions
« on: March 09, 2020, 10:44:10 PM »
Not my first CZ, but my first PCR.  Received it last week and immediately shot 300 trouble free, enjoyable rounds.  First things first, as usual the crappy stock sights need to go.  Anybody have a good description of the difference between the tactical and tactical short?  All I can see is that the short ends at the end of the slide, and the standard hangs a bit over?  Maybe it’s that simple of a difference just want to make sure.  Also, any other sight installers recommended besides CGW or CZC?  CZC said it would take 2-3 weeks for turnaround.  I had an issue with customer service at CGW, so aside from ordering parts,  not sure how much I trust them, and their lead times are usually far out as well.  I have no one local I’d trust.  Just concerned about drilling a hole where my sight is pinned to...seems like a lot of things could wrong.  The rear sight I could probably manage as I have a sight tool.

I really wish CZC or CGW would come out with a true tactical sight that would have a ledge and not the Novak style ramp they always seem to use.  I realize CZC has a couple options but they are for the shadow series I believe and not the pcr or p-01.  Also debating on whether to go FO or tritium.  Thought CZC had a brass bead option years ago, but I could be wrong and they don’t at this time.

Very impressed with how the gun handled and shot, can’t wait to start customizing it!

No clue on the tactical v tactical short. I did, however, just install a set of TruGlo nite sights on my P01. And I don't have a sight pusher. Got to say, getting the rear sights out was a chore. They were in solid! But the front sight was a breeze. Just tap the roll pin out, tap the sight out. Tap the new one in. I went with TruGlo because theirs are already cut for the roll pin. Took me less than 10 mins. And most of that was fretting over not finding my nylon punches. Honestly, it wasn't that hard.

I sent my PCR slide to CGW for installation of the 310-230 Dawson Precision Tritium Night Sights.  They came back very well aligned with the slide and with no further adjustments required.  (I think you have to be prepared for a little adjusting of sights installed on the slide without the rest of the gun along with it - but I just sent the slide, to keep the mailing simple and less expensive).

CGW did a great job.  Turn-around inside about three weeks.

I have no idea about your first question bud.  I ordered a set of Truglo TFX Pro’s for mine and installed myself using my Wheeler sight pusher tool...piece of cake!  Whichever sights you decide on, no need really to send the slide off anywhere and take all that turnaround time and shipping if you don’t want to install them yourself. Any half-way competent local gunsmith can install them for probably $30-$40 tops. Lots of places will install free if you buy the sights from them.
Congrats on your new PCR...great gun! :)
