Will this sight combo work on my CZ 75?
« on: April 23, 2020, 01:03:16 PM »
Recently bought a CZ 75B SA (it came with an old Kadet kit too!) and absolutely love it - but I'm not a huge fan of the stock sights. My favorite sights are Ameriglo Protectors (matte black rear, bright green dot up front) so I went to order a set for my CZ...lo and behold, Ameriglo doesn't make sights for the CZ 75. :(

So I've been trying to figure out which sights I can get that can match that sight picture as much as possible, and think this may work:

- CZ Custom short tactical rear sight
- CZ Custom gold tritium dot front sight, 5.5mm height

My concern is that the front sight might be too thick for the 0.125" wide notch in the rear sight. How can I make sure it'll work before ordering? (I'd measure the Ameriglo sights I already have, but...sold those guns to fund this CZ. Oops.) I tried using the sight calculator on Dawson's website, but just ended up confusing myself. The ammo I typically use is 124-grain NATO-spec Winchester, but sometimes shoot whatever cheap 115gr ammo is on sale.

If it turns out the front sight I want is too wide, are there any other good options I could go with? I really don't want a fiber optic front sight, I'm not a fan. Thanks for the help!

Have you thought about
- TRITIUM PRO NIGHT SIGHTS
or
- MEPROLIGHT NIGHT SIGHTS

Or you want rear tactical black and find front only?

I'd like a solid black rear and a bright dot up front, so I haven't really considered the Truglo or Meprolight options. I do like the Truglos, so they may be a good backup option even though I'm not a huge fan of tritium rear sights.

I am running a similar CZC sight setup on my SP-01 Tac. There is light on each side of the front sight when the pistol is held in a shooting stance. The front sight is tight in the rear notch but there is some clearance.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Do you have any photos of that setup? I'd love to see it. :)

Great post, thanks! I'll definitely have to get a decent file before trying to install my sights.

Well, I decided to go out on a limb and try something different this time, so I ordered a set of Truglo Tritium Pro sights (the orange dot version). I got a notification saying it might take up to two weeks to ship them, but in the meantime I'll read up on sight installation and make sure I have all correct punches and files to do the job right. :)

Got the sights in last week and installed them the other day, finally got a chance to shoot the gun again this afternoon. :) While I still prefer the Ameriglo Protectors (the front dot on those is way brighter, at least to me!), I do like the sight picture I get with these Truglos and I think they actually look really good on the CZ 75:

Only problem with flipping the mag release to the proper side is that now I have to file new holes on the other side of my Kadet mags.  ;D
