Bren 2 MS firing pin spring
« on: July 18, 2020, 03:06:53 PM »
I recently purchased a Cz Bren 2 MS in a 7.62 x 39 with a 9 inch barrel. I took it out yesterday. It was a real hammer but I liked it. Very accurate. I took it apart today to clean. When taking out the firing pin I saw that there was no spring. I had looked up a post that indicated that the Bren 2 "S" did not have a spring but that the, "MS" did have a pin spring. I'm wondering if I did get an MS or an S model. I bought it new online and it was sold as a Bren 2 MS. I'm and very curious about this.  Can someone give me clarification on this?

If you read the fine print on the parts schematic in your owner's manual, you'll see that the 5.56 Ms has a firing pin spring but the 7.62x39 Ms does not.

Also, the words “CZ BREN 2Ms” (or “2S” as the case may be) in big letters on left side of the receiver is a dead giveaway as to which model you have.  ;)

Thanks  for the direction. That helps a lot. Owners manual  :'(
that should have been the first place I looked. I did see the MS on the side. I have reasonable faith in companies to stick with their product design, especially when their legal necks are on the line; but  sometimes I wonder if the go-between folks  like (distributors)  take  certain libraries.
Thanks again!
