CZ P-10C
« on: July 15, 2020, 09:12:09 PM »
My first post here on my first CZ pistol (also have the excellent .22 bolt action rifle).  Carried a Glock 19 for decades and that model served me well twice in harm's way.  But, I don't like the sights (aftermarket, of course), don't like the trigger (great concept, questionable execution-aftermarket) and don't like the grip, especially for small hands like mine.  Bought a P-10C last week and qualified with it-it is apparently a second generation or such, but the rear plate still gives a little-don't like that.  And I don't like MIM locking blocks, striker, etc.  BUT...most shootable handgun I've ever used, even better that a Browning P-35.  Practically shoots itself, without worry about the mechanics.  Maxed out first time on the combat course (flipping timed targets, no shooter movement).  A bit concerned about the plate and about the striker (heard tips have broken from a few) and will need to get night sights, but otherwise may be abe to leave it stock for serious carry.  Thoughts on the plate or striker tip-maybe aftermarket options-though I don't want to go that route any more than necessary.  It's the Glock, refined, and I shoot it better than the Walther and HK offerings, as well.

Does your striker plate have a notch on the right side?  If so, you’re good to go.  Early gen’s had some issues with the striker clocking which resulted in the striker plate slipping down and not allowing the slide to go fully into battery.

Mine is an early gen, so I bought for the CGW pin kit that keeps the striker assembly from clocking.  I didn’t have any issues with clocking, either before or after, so call it peace of mind.

I also had some concerns with the MIM striker, so I bought the CGW striker made from tool steel.  I’m somewhere around 5K rnds on mine with no issues.  Again, peace of mind.

I own a G19 and a couple of other Glocks.  Agree on the ergos of the P10C.  The Glocks have their uses, but if given a choice I’d pick the P10C.

The other mods I did was the HBi trigger shoe, Apex extended mag release, and different sights.

Oh, forgot to mention, milled it for a RMR since me old eyes aren’t what they used to be...

Does the second gen have the MIM striker? How hard was it to install your changes?

Never heard of a P10C striker tip breaking.

bleepYankee, I had seen mention on the internet of this, maybe "Gen1 models"-don't know for certain, and just looked one up on Youtube-can pm you the link to that vid.  I hope mine works out because I shoot this thing better than anything else, and I've had or fired pretty much everything out there since the late 70s.

Very DIY-able.  Hardest part is manipulating the little spring cups on the striker if you have anything bigger than Hobbit size fingers.

Plenty of Youtube videos on disassembly and swapping parts on the P10C if you run into a snag.

Are the striker cups at least in part to maintain operation in water or mud?

Striker cups are similar design as Glocks.  They hold the striker spring on the striker.
