Cz rami FTF
« on: July 10, 2020, 07:30:14 PM »
Hey everyone. So I got a cz rami last weekend. I was having a FTF issue where the rounds in the magazine were being pushed so far forward during the slide cycling, that they were hitting the feed ramp head on and stopping. Sometimes the last round would just pop out of the magazine. Any thoughts on how to fix this? Happens with any type of ammo. Not
Using handloads. Factory magazines both the 10 and 14 rounder

Is it new or used?

From the description I’d suspect the magazine, but two new mags with maladjusted feed lips would be odd.

If i am reading you correctly, when the pistol cycles and chambers a round it is dragging a second round out of place and moving it forward in the magazine. If this is the case i would inspect the guide rib/third rail on the bottem of the slide and look for rough spots or an overall rough finish. If you find something, polishing this rail is an option. Another possibility is the lower edge of the breech face. In some factory CZs this corner can be overly sharp and drag a round forward when the slide cycles. Breaking this corner and smoothing things out may help remedy the issue.

Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Yea it’s a brand new gun. Bought it new.

And yea Tok, that’s exactly what’s happening, the round in the mag becomes unseated and pushed forward. I have polished that rail and rounded that rough edge by the breach. It’s a lot better now, before I did that, a simple press check caught the round and moved it so far up in the magazine the last round would just pop out the top lol. It is still doing it though,  not as severe. Are there any other things I can do to help it feed reliably? I love this gun and would love it to feed reliably. The only other issue I had was with 124 grain +p gold dots. The ejection was really weird, in my face, one went to the far left, then right, then brass to face. Only that loading did it. Maybe a plus p thing?

Increasing the magazine spring weight may be another option. Porcupine already mentioned the magazine feed lips, but as he pointed out, the likelihood on that one is low with it malfunctioning with multiple mags. I am interested to hear what other forum members have to say on the subject.

Alright so I just did some more polishing on that breach edge. I’ve taken that sharp edge down and rounded it. That surface is still contacting the round. I just had my flashlight on it. Did a press check, sure enough that breech edge is rubbing that actual round and pulling it forward. The press checks are difficult to do as well. All I can feel is that round and edge running together

Breech* rubbing*

I cycled some snap caps and after taking that edge down everything cycled 100 percent. Still running pretty bad but it’s better. Earlier today before taking that edge down i had tons of issues. So it is way better. But I’m not sure how much more of that edge I should mess with lmao. I don’t wanna mess something huge up and be screwed

Is it possible the magazine catch is off and holding the mags slightly higher than it should?

I’d be wary of doing more than polishing/breaking a sharp edge on the breech face/bottom of the slide, as it’s a really expensive part.

I’m really only seeing two possibilities for excessive friction on the rounds in the mag. If you’ve cleaned up the slide, you might want to check the positioning of the mag relative to it.

If you have other CZ mags you could check to see if they present the rounds a hair lower.

Of course I’m just spitballing here, as I’ve only had one Rami, and it’s been trouble free.

I’ll check the mags again today. I’ve heard to run stronger wolf magazine springs in the mags. And a stronger recoil spring. I think I fixed the problem, so on that third rail inside, not the flat part, but the sides of that rail where there’s an angle, If your looking at the slide, the right side of that rail, there was a bunch of brass there where it’s rubbing so I polished that up really good and it helped a lot. Just need to goto the range now. Hoping my mags are fine the way they are. Have you done and modifications to your rami? Any aftermarket springs or anything?

As soon as I go shoot I’ll report back, I have some ammo coming Wednesday and some ammo left that constantly wouldn’t feed I will run again. Thanks for all your help.
Have a good weekend

Thank you for that link boss, I kept finding Thar information in bits and pieces but not all together. I’m a little nervous to file down the ejector like that. Have you done this mod before?

Went to the range today. Ran 100 percent. Very happy. Such an accurate pistol. Ran steel flawlessly as well. Fed it a mix of everything. Thanks for everyone’s help.
