P01 curved trigger that bad? Wait for an Omega?
« on: August 01, 2020, 12:00:07 AM »
Hello everyone. I'm looking to get my first CZ. Currently have a Walther PPQ which is great.

Went to a LGS to day and surprisingly they had a pretty good inventory of CZ's. Held the SP01 tactical which was amazing but a little too big for my average size hands. They also had a P01 which just felt much better in the hand. I had more control of it. I can't tell if the curved trigger will be an issue though. I'm not looking to do any upgrades aside from maybe sights, so if I end feeling I need to change the trigger I feel the Omega may be a better value since its stock sights are slightly better.

Only problem is it can be a while before I can source one. Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks!

Stay with PPQ...  :)

And I'm not kidding. I've owned PPQ and gave it to my son (he loved the handgun, I love him, so I could not resist). I couldn't find same great shooter ever since then. My P-01 Omega is the closest one... but still not the same.

People say P-01 shoots better than P-01 Omega... so if curved trigger bothers you, there is either CGW "Old Style Trigger" replacement or CZ-Custom Straight Trigger

I actually traded my original P-01 on a P-01 Omega. There were more reasons than just the flat faced trigger though. I can tell you that I personally prefer it over the curved trigger and I no longer experience trigger slap. In addition, I like that the de-cocker is ambi, faces forward instead of to the rear and even though I haven't switched it, can be changed to a safety. I also like how the magazine release is more easily reversed. If you haven't already guessed, I'm a left-handed shooter. I know most people believe the original trigger is better, but my apparently insensitive finger couldn't tell much difference, especially after I put a 14" main spring in it.

Haven't seen them yet, but the curved trigger is supposed to be a thing of the past. I'm eagerly awaiting for these to be available as a stand alone product.

I have both a P01 Omega and a PCR. Both have been to CGW for their Pro pkg and I couldn’t be happier.

That said, I too prefer the Omega style trigger than that of the current curved trigger.

My Omega‘s trigger, pre CGW, was better than the PCR in terms of weight, stacking, smoothness.

PCR on top, PO1 Omega below.

Like a midget at a urinal, I'll have to keep on my toes

Thanks everyone. I may just wait until I land a P01 Omega or see if the new stock non Omegas actually have straighter triggers, like stated in the post above. It's very difficult to purchase and even sell your firemarms in NYC so want to make sure I get it right.

I kinda like the curved trigger 🤷🏻??? I've got a handful of CZs, mostly with what CGW calls "old style triggers. I recently did some work on my OD Green P01 and decided to leave the curved trigger installed to see how it felt and how I'd shoot it compared to the straighter  "old style" triggers. I was surprised how comfortable it felt for me and I shot it just as well as the other triggers. Go figure.

Which trigger suits you better is one of those things you won't know till you shoot it.

Grip, trigger finger, recoil and the trigger shape all affect how you like, or dislike, your trigger.

My personal experience with trigger bite on a CZ is with my .40 S&W P09.  The "straight" trigger in the 9MM P09 is a non-issue for me.  The curved trigger in the .40 S&W P07 is a non-issue for me.  But that darned .40 S&W P09 with the "straight" trigger would start hurting my trigger finger after a magazine or two.  With the same ammo that recoiled more/harder in the P07.

I replaced the "straight" trigger of the .40 S&W P09 with the older curved style P07 DUTY trigger and it's been great ever since.

Back to the "you've gotta shoot it to know if it's okay or not" advice.  You can't assume it's okay for you because it's okay for the next shooter.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I love my P-01 Omega, but I have to say the stock sights are the worst factory sights I've ever had on any pistol.  They will be coming off soon.

At least they are metal  ;D
And I'm guessing you do not shoot Glocks  ;)

Lol, no Glocks for me.  Maybe my sights are just bad.  Instead of white dots, they are more a dull yellow, not even good visibility in daylight.  No big deal, I usually stick with night sights anyway, I was just a little disappointed in the stock offerings.

With the current climate with guns being hard to find, I would jump all over that P01 you checked out in the gun shop. The trigger would not be an issue for me. I have an SP-01 tac and a P01 Omega. The curved trigger on the SP-01 Tac does not bother me. I guess the Omega triger does feel a little better though. Really I am happy with both. If that link that was shared is the new trigger that CZ will be going to, i think it is a good change. I really like that shape.
