Anybody had a 97 milled for a red dot?
« on: September 09, 2020, 10:00:56 AM »
I can't see the metal sights anymore, so I need RD on all my pistols. I have a mill to do the work, I'm just concerned about the thickness of the slide in that area. If anybody has had one done I'd like to know they used a plate or bolted straight to the slide and some measurements.

I dunno, the 97 slide is pretty narrow. An adapter plate might be required even for the newer micro red dots.  I have a Holosun 407k micro dot sitting on my desk.  Even that looks like it might be too wide for my 97.  I've got a Venom on a Springer Precision dovetail adapter that works well for me without the hassle of milling and adapter plates. 3 of my 75s have either direct milled or adapter mounted red dots.  My aging eyes love the dots!

^^Ahh, good point, i missed that OP was asking if mounting a red dot with no plate was possible.
