Red dot options for an original kadet kit
« on: September 13, 2020, 04:22:24 PM »
Folks, I hav3 a Kadet kit for my CZ 75 B in .40 S&W.  What do Zi need to purchase in order to be able to mount N RDS on it?

CZ Custom use to make a dovetail mount for the Kadet but I haven’t seen it on their website recently. Give them a call. I’m not 100% but it think the dove tail cut is different than a standard slide. It sounds crazy— why would CZ do that, but that’s what I remember, sort of. Might be because of the adjustable sights, but I’m guessing there.

Post up what you find out. It’s kind of a project on the horizon for me.

My research leads me to believe that the Kadet uses the same dovetail mount as the Shadow. I haven’t been able to confirm it, tho.

These fellows are correct.  You need the dovetail mount for a Shadow, which is different than for the 75B.  The Shadow and Kadet use the same dovetail.  Try Springer Precision and/or EGW.

If you want to use a tube type red dot, it is easy to add a piece of rail to the top of the slide and then use and Ultradot on the Kadet.  The barrel has to be removed from the slide and then the holes drilled and tapped for the rail segment.  If you use a slotted rail segment, you can leave the factory adjustable iron sights in place and use them by simply removing the red dot.

Here are some Kadet  (and other pistol) videos if you are interested.  Many show the tube type red dot mounted on the Kadet on a 75B frame.  Others show a red dot on a Springer Precision mount.

I like to use czcustom's picatinny rail for Kadets. Give the ability to mount RDS or shot with iron sights. Low slide vibrations don't shake the RDS loose on 22LR.
Either should work
