New Addition: CZ 97BD - Modifications
« on: September 30, 2020, 01:55:54 PM »
Fresh from the FFL!!  Got my 97BD today...LOVE THIS THING....  CGW Pro package will be delivered any minute. Just completed installing the pro package on my P01... WHAT a difference. Any input on how the installation of the CGW PP would differ on the 97?  Planning to polish the internals per David’s post.... Has anyone polished the factory barrel?  Any benefit other than cosmetics?

I’ve done both guns and don’t recall much difference. I don’t think the 97 had the little sear cage retaining disc but can’t guarantee that. They were very similar

I can confirm that the CZ 97 BD differs from the P-01 and other alloy framed CZ 75 variant decockers, in the way that the Sear Pin is retained. The alloy framed models use the Sear Pin retaining disk while the steel framed models have the Sear Pin staked on the left side under the decocking lever to retain the Sear Pin.

As to barrel polishing, it is my understanding that it is purely cosmetic.

Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Have the barrel crowned and install their upgraded barrel bushing modification. THAT will make a difference.

I am curious if the difference crowning and a bushing upgrade varies by gun. I understand guys that shoot at 100 yards would want to have the gun as accurate as possible. Is there a clearance measurement between barrel O.D. and bushing I.D. that one would say a new bushing upgrade will not gain anything? Mine is just under .002" from the factory. The gun shoots great, I am not a great shot, but not bad. My third shot out of mine was literally dead center on my target. I quit shooting. 😁 Seriously, in my case I was getting better and better with the 97 and then ammo skyrocketed. The 97 was quickly becoming my favorite CZ.

For me, besides looking cool, the crowning and barrel bushing upgrade made a difference with my accuracy. The barrel to slide fit is custom tight with no wiggle or air space to speak of. Think of a Dan Wesson set up.

Thank you for the input. Definitely interested in the barrel crowning and bushing upgrade. Just not looking forward to the turn around time. Will have to pick up another CZ to keep me busy while it’s with CGW.

TOK36.... thanks again for the heads up regarding the sear pin. Recently completed the CGW Pro Package upgrade and getting the sear slave pin fully seated was a bit of a pain point during the  disassembly. Polishing and pro package turned out beautifully (if I do say so myself)... hah... DA pull is just over 7.5 lbs and SA is right around 3.5. Took it to the range Sunday and WOW!  I love this pistol!! LOK Slim Bogies should be here Saturday, I’ve listed the factory aluminum grips on EBay if anyone here is interested.
