Hi,
Even though I am a CZ and CZ clones fan, this is my first topic here. Please be as gentle as possible.
I got my hands on a SAR K-12 for an acceptable price (only mildly gouged).
The trigger was not bad, but not what I hoped. It started around 4.7 lbs. With some dry firing, I was able to get it to 4.5 lbs.
This morning I decided to install some parts I had bought before for other Tanfoglio projects. I am procrastinating forever.
I installed:
The process is explained in several Youtube videos. That is where I learned it.
The only thing extra is you need to drive out 1/16" pin to remove the side safety lever on the right side.
Two important things to note:
- Even though the Xtreme trigger bar guide is silky smooth, it's spring is heavier. I installed the Galloway spring on it.
- The stock firing pin safety spring overpowers the reduced power sear spring, and the hammer cannot be cocked by hand. The lighter firing pin safety spring from the Galloway kit is required.
Outside of that, I did minimal real trigger job work. I was too lazy to get my Dremmel out.
- Lightly polish the hammer pin, so it is a bit easier to drive it back. No material was removed.
- Absolutely minimal polishing of the sides of the sear.
- Absolutely minimal polishing of the surface of the sear interacting with the hammer. No material was removed.
The results are astonishing and exceeded my expectations. The trigger is super smooth, crisp, and 2.5 LBS. Even if that sounds scary, it is not hair-trigger. It breaks quickly, smoothly, and crisply.
In the afternoon, I was able to shoot 50 rounds through the gun before the range had to close due to an emergency (unrelated
).
No issues what so ever, but I used only one brand ammo, the cheaper Herters.
