I have had 9 18-round magazines in heavy rotation. In the past, I'd have to change out the mag springs at least once, sometimes twice a season when the springs got worn out and I started getting failures to strip the first round from a magazine. It only happened during reloads, when my slide would (more often than not) auto-forward when I slammed the magazine in. Same thing happened with either OEM or +10% springs.
I eventually figured out that I shouldn't be mixing springs/mags for high-cap games and low-cap games. Using the same springs for games that allowed me to load full capacity was wearing out the springs to the point of causing the failures when loading to only 10 rounds. Once I figured that out and started using one set of springs for only low-cap games, I haven't had any failures, and have gone 2 full years without having to replace.
I've now added a few new guns to the stable, and with them some new 19 and 23-round magazines, so I have completely separate mags for different games. I will probably replace springs once a year or every other year just for sanity, and will probably just replace the springs in the low-cap mags, rotating those springs down to the high-cap mags.
So, long story short, if you're a heavy shooter, and you regularly load to different capacities, then using the same mags for different capacities will cause you to wear out springs and experience failures faster. Loading to a consistent capacity, or using different mags/springs for difference capacities, will keep your springs working for much longer (years instead of months).
