Why the frame and slide changes to the CZ-75B SA?
« on: February 06, 2021, 08:43:16 AM »
What was the point of the small changes to the 75B SA? There were little changes like the extended beaver tail, different profile dual safeties, and a thicker slide fore-end. Just not sure why CZ changed those features from the standard CZ-75B.

The SA was part of their competition line, so it featured improvements from the SP-01 but in a short dust cover configuration.

Those features helped to sell it as a poor man's match gun.

The SA was my gateway pistol into match shooting and tweaking things on a handgun.

Agree on the better handling characteristics from the changes.  Was already hooked on CZs from a Shadow 2, but still have three SAs, two fitted with CTS slides in 40 and 357 SIG.  They shoot like dreams, one is my go to target pistol, the other is set up for Pig Hunting.  Great guns.

CZ does some "different" stuff with their guns.

I've got a CZ75B .40 S&W.  The frame beavertail is like a 9MM CZ75B.  But the slide is like a CZ75SA.  And, the CZ75B .40 has ambidextrous thumb safeties which is not true with the CZ75B.  I guess, the frame for the CZ75B .40 is pretty close to the CZ85 pistol frame.  Just doesn't have the CZ85's ambidextrous slide release and the slightly larger hole in the right side of the frame for that right side slide release,

I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Can you put a 75B SA slide on a regular 75B frame then?

Yes, generally CZ 75 variant slides are comparable with other CZ 75 variant frames. Some fitting can be required in some cases and there are some exclusions. Even the CZ Tac Sport slide can be adapted to a 75 B frame, though this combo requires more significant fitting than usual.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Wasn't sure, as the front of the 75B SA slide looked a little too thick up front to fit into a standard 75B frame. But good to know.
