CGW Reduced Power Firing Pin Spring problems

i would disassemble the firing pin group and work the firing pin by hand to see if the spring or pin is dragging . then i would insert the firing pin thru the hole from the other end to make sure it is not dragging inside the firing pin channel from either direction. perhaps polishing the o.d. of the firing pin ( the large diameter that
 rubs the bore) with fine grit paper might help. maybe the pin is bent and dragging the hole? not clear to me? did you replace the firing pin with the extended reach pin? if so is the diameters of both pins the same?

I have the same issue when I dry fired w/o the snap cap. I would guess with a snap cap it would NOT happen. I put back the OEM spring and the issue has stopped.

For sure dry firing without a snap cap with a light firing pin spring will work that spring hard and deform it. I have two Bull Shadow slides. One with a CGW extended fp and their light fp spring. The other has a CZC extended fp and a CZC lighter fp spring. Both set off ccw primers every time with a CGW 11.5 #main spring. That being said when I dry fire each (without a snap cap) the CGW pin and spring is much more audible and sounds loose. That pin also travels much more further in its stroke.
I still run each setups but now only dry fire with a snap cap and both last quite well. I now use an
o -ring in place of a snap cap. IMO that’s the way to go.

The firing pin can go farther into the channel without a cartridge or a snap cap. 

The OD of the pin/shaft and the ID of the firing pin channel may be working to capture that firing pin at some point as it travels "too far" down the channel.

Might not be able to do it with a standard firing pin return spring.  Combination of the longer spring, stiffer spring probably keeps the firing pin from traveling the same distance forward.

Coil bind is a thing on rocker arm springs (and most other coil wire springs).  Could be damaging that reduced power spring, too, if the firing pin is going far enough forward to smack those coils into each other.

But at the end of Production stage i have to dry fire without o-rings or snap caps.
Pin stuck inside and it will be obvious at next command "Make ready": pin plate falling out from slide!

Installed reduced power HS-12000 (11.5#) hammer spring, reduced power 97041 firing pin spring

Any ideas? still want to reduce force for the very first DA shot on the range.
