If you convert to SAO, you will be limited to one safety...the sear safety.  IMHO, I do not consider that a safe situation for CC.  You'd have a heck of a time explaining that set-up in court, I'd think. You need to think defensively here.  For other sporting applications the straight trigger with take-up and over-travel set screws (CZC) allows near 1911-type travel and reset characteristics.

Got the new trigger installed, and I'm very pleased with how it works. Haven't been to the range yet, but it appears that I'm a go with the FPS in place. I have just a tiny bit of take-up before the FPL is engaged. I still have the stock plunger spring, so I have a bit of feedback when it is engaging. Kind gives me a two-stage trigger pull. Thought I might not like this style trigger, but I'm now thinking it looks pretty good:

I also changed out the red FO for green to see which I like better. Seems like the green is visible longer in low light.

WNCRob: In stock form, I carried this pistol cocked and locked. I don't see the difference carrying it cocked and locked with this trigger, unless you are meaning that the 97B shouldn't be used for CC at all.

FYI: I carry my 1911 cocked and locked, as well as the HiPower and Sig P938 when I carried them. When i carry my Browning BDM, it is decocked down to the hammer block.

Forgot to mention that the modified factory sao trigger (5SAO) is back in stock at CGW.

Was able to get out into the woods to look for a rabbit and take some shots to confirm the conversion. All is well. I really like the green FO front sight too. I had the 10/22 along, but if I'd seen a rabbit, I'd have taken the shot with my 97B!

Careful out there, i hear some of the sharper rabbits have learned to bat a big slow 45 ACP back at you.

I am kidding, glad to hear that the conversion went well.  :)

Here is my 97B with the SAO trigger and race hammer kit installed last year. Unfortunately, with the scarcity of ammo now, I have only taken it to the range once and only have 50 rounds thru it.

Very nice! Might have to put a race hammer kit on my birthday wish list, and maybe some of those blue aluminum grips too....

1911 cocked & locked vs 97B SAO...assuming your 1911 is in Series 70 configuration, you will have 2 safeties at work...sear and trigger bow.  With the 97B, only one...the safety blocks the sear if its fully set.  To me, the 1911 offers an important added level of safety as I view the single safety on the SAO CZ's as too little redundancy (actually none) for CC.  Hard for me to conclude they are both equally safe for CC.  FYI, I have a SP-01 in SAO mode and I love it...for range use and games.  But my P-01 decocker is my "safe" gun.  If I were to justifiably shoot someone with the SAO gun, I think I'd have a tough time in court...but I'm not an expert on these matters...but if I were considering carrying a SAO CZ, I'd sure as heck consult one.

I agree that the series 70 1911, which I have, has more safeties than the 97B. The 97B has the same number as the Hi Power and my wife's Ruger LC9s, which is more than millions of striker fired pistols being carried have on them. I really don't know how the little trigger dongle interacts with the striker, but I think that having a safety is safer as two actions need to take place before the pistol fires: safety off,  then pull the trigger. A deliberate set of actions to fire the pistol.  With the striker fired pistol, just pull the trigger, no thought involved, what folks with "glock leg" have found out when the trigger got snagged up on something during holstering or other action.

I guess there has been quite a bit of topic drift on this one. I should have thought a bit about my orig post and dropped the part about cc'ing!

DOHC97: Looks like you have the CGW manual safety hammer vs the OEM manual safety hammer, right? I'd prob go with the OEM hammer as the reason for getting it would be to make cocking the hammer easier when dry firing vs improving the "break." Just curious about your impressions of the CGW trigger, if that's what you have.
