What ammo with Czechmate and compensator
« on: March 03, 2021, 03:39:37 PM »
I just bought a new Czechmate Parrot and I have heard that when using the compensator, you need higher pressure ammo to cycle the slide. Anybody heard this or have any suggestions for ammo? Should it be +p with the compensator?

That’s not true. I have shot my minor rounds (~130 PF) on my czechmate without any problems at all. I did change my recoil spring to 9# for use with my major PF ammo.

Do a search here. There are several Czechmate threads here.

Wait a sec,

Is this with Comp or no comp? I have a built SP-01 open major gun(w/comp) and I'm looking for options to shooting open minor with it. I was thinking of getting another slide to swap, but if I can get away with just swapping recoil springs I will try that first.

Yes, you can get away just by changing the recoil spring. Experiment with different weights and see which weight works best with your loads.

I have shot factory Federal, Blazer and my power puff minor loads without any problems at all.

I'll second George16 - I just swap springs for what ammo I'm using.

I do this for 3 different guns.

The catch is trying to remember what spring is in the gun and not get them mixed up.  Some are color coded, some are not.

I also replace the springs every year due to wearing them out.

We are talking about slide springs here.....

If it goes "boom" or "vroom" I'm intersted.
