Best economical trigger upgrade.
« on: February 25, 2021, 03:35:56 PM »
I have a Shadow 2 and am spoiled by the trigger. What is the most economical way to upgrade the trigger in my SP-01? Just need to lighten it some as it is very heavy as is.

Your number one choice should be the Mcarbo trigger spring kit with the optional floating trigger pin.

This. Or even just trying a lighter mainspring but the MCarbo kit is about the best bang for your performance out there. Oh, and polishing the internals.

Going the Cajun route, this will get you into the 6 lb DA and 2 lb SA territory:

11.5 lb hammer spring
Extended firing pin
Reduced weight firing pin spring
Trigger Return Spring

While you’re removing the trigger pin, good time to replace it with the CGW floating trigger pin that also comes with the slave pin to help with installation of the TRS.

Polish the hammer spring strut as well as the sides of the trigger bow.

That didn't take long for a response from you.  Maybe one day you will believe that I have no affiliation with Mcarbo, just maybe.

Get a 15 lb reduced power hammer spring. That lightens the double action quite a bit. Some polishing wouldn't  be bad either.

Dry firing, lots and lots of dry firing.

I wasn't born in America, but I got here as fast as I could.

A spring kit with polishing can drastically improve the trigger for around $50. I say that to include the firing pin retaining pin as well as the floating trigger pin if not an omega. Polishing will help but occasionally there are larger tool marks so only so much can be done without replacing those parts (trigger bar, disco plunger etc).
