which P-10S to get?
« on: April 14, 2021, 08:14:56 PM »
In my prior thread I asked to be talked into (or out of) getting a P-10S - and I've been talked into it.  So, which version to get?  I think I found a source for these 3 "versions":   (and I'm primarily interested in all black finish versus FDE or OD frames - just my personal preference)
1 - P-10S optics ready made in USA
2 - P-10S made in USA
3 - P-10S made in Czech republic

All have black finish and come with 12 rd mags.  Only difference between #2 and #3 is where it was made.  Note that I am not an optics / red dot fan at all - again, personal choice (and yes, I've tried it - in fact have 1 that I took off of the pistol it came with ).  Only reason I would consider the optics ready version is it's potential / future resale value (and desirability) - as red dots are in vogue these days.  Other question is if there is any discernable difference in the US versus Czech made regarding quality etc (I would lean towards the Czech made perhaps?).  I would appreciate any thoughts you might have.

I vote for option 1 P-10S OR, just for the resale value, but I think they are equal from a mechanical quality standpoint.

I think the USA pistols should have different sights from the Uhersky Brod made ones. The USA ones have an orange ringed front tritium and blackened rear serrated combat sights. The UB ones have the two dot rear with front tritiums or luminescent. If buying online, best to ask the seller to confirm the country of origin and sights.

These are Czech based P-10S and M pistol rear sights.

I bought a USA made non optic P10S. I have no regrets, but at the time I bought, OR versions were far and few between.  Had both been available, I probably would have gotten the OR variant just for the flexibility it offers.

Quality wise there is no difference. Only difference in non optics ready ones is the sights, and I prefer the US ones. Though I'd get the optics ready and put an RMR on it. ;)

My P-10S, made in the Czech Republic, had a front tritium sight, the rear was just the black sight, no dots.  I changed it out in favor of a full set of night sights.  Purchased about 1 year ago, just before the pandemic hit.  Pistol shoots great.  Its my EDC.

I gace the P10C a try when it forst came out and it was ok, but nothing special to me. I however am thinking I want a P10S optics ready now. Well either that or a 509C MRD. Pretty much can't find either for a decent price right now it seems.

Another vote for the P-10S OR. Even if you aren't into having an optic now, you likely will be at some point. And it's a heckuva lot less expensive, and less hassle and wait time, to just get an OR model at the outset.
