P10S - guide rod sticking out on reassembly -
« on: April 01, 2021, 06:11:33 AM »

Guys, what am I doing wrong? The guide rod always seems to stick out whenever I reattach the slide.

It seems to want a very firm/strong push when I reassemble but that doesnt work all the time.

Is there some trick to it? Been using 75s and Shadows since I got this P10

TIA

Your guide rod is improperly seated when reassembled, very common mistake.

That guide rod needs to be seated and centered precisely.  If not, it will catch in the frame as you push the slide to the rear on the frame.

I've done it on other pistols and sometimes it takes some finagling to get the slide off again to correctly line up the back of the guide rod under the barrel.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Thanks guys.

I noticed that the seating for the guide rod seems so darn shallow compared to the CZ75 and Shadow...

Don't feel bad.  I have three P-10's and have had to take the slide back off, move the guide rod a few thousandths of an inch and try it again, nearly every time I have one apart, and I'm pretty experienced with these pistols.  I'm kinda used to it now, so it isn't very frustrating any longer.  Not that I'm impatient and easily ticked off or anything...

There's an indent in the forward part of the breech block for the guide rod, get it seated in that little quarter moon shaped place and you're good to go.
