Snapcaps and the Scorpion and You
« on: June 06, 2021, 04:54:30 AM »

Hey guys, I use snapcaps when I can with both my Shadow 1 and my P10S. with a DA pistol its easy to use it and it doesnt take much travel along the slide to reset the P10 trigger, but I cant seem to reset the scorpion trigger without ejecting the snapcap.

Which brings me to my question - Is it much safer to go without a snapcap when dryfiring the scorpion?

I don't think it's any safer or really less safe either way.

Will not using snap caps damage your gun, specifically the firing pin? probably not.

A quick skim over the Scorpion manual shows that CZ recommends dry fire when unloading the gun completely.

Unloading the gun
POINT IN A SAFE DIRECTION!
- Remove the magazine
- Set the fire mode lever onto the fire mode
- Pull the cocking handle into the rear position and make sure that the chamber is empty. By pushing the cocking handle
upwards it is possible to fix the slide in the rear position while another person can check whether the chamber is empty.
- Release the slide
- Pull the trigger (dry fire)

Thanks for your reply, Destructo.

Just wondered how the other Scorpion owners practiced with their units.

I’ve had no issues dry firing but I don’t do it excessively. I do take the Scorpion to the range nearly every week! Last weekend, enjoyed shooting clays at 25, 50, and 100 yards.
