New to the forum and new to CZ pistols as well, but have owned a bunch of nice guns including assorted 1911's, Glocks, Sigs, S&W's and one H&K.  Kind of feel overwhelmed by the different models, price points and options.  I've been shooting pistols for 20+ years and own some pretty nice guns.  So I'm willing to spend some money to get an accurate and ergonomic gun with a great trigger.  This gun would be used primarily as a range gun, and potentially to get into some sport shooting ... steel challenge, maybe IDPA.

I've heard great things about the Shadow 2 (blue), but there seem to be a bunch of other options as well.  There's the Shadow 2 Orange, a Shadow 2 with Cajun Gunworks upgrades.  An SP01.  An SP01 Target 2.  An SP01 Shadow Custom.  I mean Jesus, who's naming these guns and are they just taking the words Shadow, Orange, SP01 and Target and shuffling them around?

I'm really just looking for a gun that shoots like a laser, has negligible recoil and effortless follow up shots, with great ergonomics, a light crisp trigger with a short reset and that doesn't break the bank.  But maybe that's not realistic.

At this point I think I'd either like to find a stock Shadow 2 (Blue) either new or with a few rounds through it or bite the bullet and purchase a new upgraded Shadow 2 directly from Cajun Gunworks.  Or maybe just get the Orange.  As I said before it's kind of overwhelming.  And although I want a nice gun, I also don't want to overspend.  After all, although I've been shooting a while and can appreciate a high quality gun, it's not like I'm Jerry Miculek.
Probably should have started a new thread, but I hear you. I got into CZ's a little less than a year ago, and it's very confusing. Fortunately, I knew what I was after (Shadow 2) from reading competition forums. I also debated which model to buy and decided to pop for the Orange right up front. Glad I did, just an awesome gun to shoot, and it qualifies for the production class. That is one thing to be aware of, some of the custom guns from CGW and CZC do not qualify for production class. And even some of the after market mods you can have done to a gun will take them out of production, like barrel bushings. Since the Orange comes from the factory with the barrel bushing, it's still production legal. I am NOT knocking CGW or CZC. They both do great work. Just sayin'.

I love shooting my S2O. I shoot 200-300 rounds a week through it. Fun, very accurate and fast gun to shoot. Trigger is butter smooth and very light in SA mode. It took some getting used to after shooting a Sig P320 X5 for a couple of years. But the X5 has turned into a safe queen now.

As to the rest of the CZ lineup, I remain confused. But I've stopped caring really. For my competition gun, I want to stay in production class, which rules out several of their higher end guns. And for the rest of my handgun needs, I'm already happy with what I have.

Good luck with your decision. I got mine from Gunprime.com, and it looks like they still have good prices for them.

some of those terms have specific meaning in CZ-Land

SP01 - full size frame with full-length dust cover with rail

Shadow - pistols made without the firing pin block for a shorter and lighter trigger pull (competition guns, not intended for Duty)

Orange - hand-fit premium upgrade edition
