452 Blind Magazine Trigger Guard
« on: December 31, 2010, 05:21:34 PM »
Started this project some time back, got all the parts finally and put it all together the
other day. I was surprised that, so far anyway, it functions and ejects rds every time.
Started with a trigger guard that I had made without a magazine opening and a single shot
adapter. That setup worked so I modified a CZ magazine so it was blind, to see if it could
be loaded from the top. Now a SMART person would have tried loading a good mag installed
in a perfectly good working rifle and THEN modified the mag if all went well, but then you
need to remember who started this thread.  :-[

Here is the "Blind" trigger guard:

Magazine shortened as well as the follower:

Fully assembled:

The first try the magazine would only hold 3 rounds and the 4th would not go, so I shortened
the long leg of the follower until the 4th would just fit:

Loading is not much of a challenge once you point the muzzle down, drop in the round so it just
starts in the chamber, then using your thumb push the rd down and slide it back in the mag.
The last rd(4th) can be a little tricky but I think if I shorten the long leg of the follower just a
little more it will fix itself.

Cycling the bolt, it chambers and ejects the rounds so the next step will be a range test when
it quits snowing. Hopefully it will load easy with the scope mounted.

That is really sharp.  You did a great job on making it.

You don't sell those trigger guards without the mag hole, do you? A tear-drop-shaped trigger guard without the hole on a 452 FS would be beautiful... :-*

I might make a few of both in the next batch of trigger guards I order. I only have the
one pictured left of the 10 I had made and it has an ever so small imperfection in the
side that is all but invisible, but I know it's there ....

very nice, I was thinking could one of the cz-single shot magazines be modified... have the bottom removed then put the trigger guard in place?
has anyone used a cz single shot mag?

HotRod9mm, can you load the magazine when a scope is mounted on the rifle? Or would you need to use a single-shot adapter?
