97B"E" at 100 yards, paper and steel
« on: August 31, 2021, 08:26:20 PM »
I had a good day today with the 97B"E" at 100 yards from a wrist rest, less than spectacular single hand unsupported, but that was the shooter's fault, not the gun/ammo combination.  There is no way I am going to try to find a substitute for the Atlanta Arms 185 gr JHP ammo that I have used for years.  The target in the video is good evidence that this ammo will be hard to beat.

I still love the steel guns.  The 97B"E" is one of the best.

I feel so inadequate when I watch JoeL videos, yet inspired to try something out of the box.

Thanks, gentlemen.  I shot fine from a rest but struggled single hand unsupported on the steel.  I started to not show the steel effort, but there is a lesson there--one must practice on a consistent basis if one wants to retain any proficiency, especially for bullseye type target shooting, whether at 25 or 50...or 100 yards!   :)

I included all 13 shots at the steel, just because.   Well, because next time I'll shoot better!

Another important point.  Note that a sub 3" group at 100 yards with a pistol doesn't happen often, and when it does, it is usually on the same day that the average groups size for the day is closer to 6".  I don't want anyone to think that this result is is any way typical or easy or expected.  This is a statistical aberration in the overall scheme of things.  I am much more interested in getting the average group size for the day down to 4" from 6" than I am in shooting one sub 3" group along with a bunch of 7" groups.  It's the 7" (and some times larger) groups that get my attention.  a sub 3" makes a good video, however.   :)
