Are these the new changes for the P01?
« on: September 29, 2021, 11:55:48 PM »
Just bought this a month ago and realize it looks different from what I know.     Is this the normal?  The engraving finishing isn't all that great, not cut smooth like before.

Anyways no big deal, thought I'd share:

That's how they look now. My 2020 made 75B compact and 2021 made PCR look just like that.

I have a month old 2021 P01 Omega and it’s pretty much the same. It doesn’t bother me. I can’t see it unless I take a close up pic.

I’ve heard it said that they have great laser engraving “ruined” by poly coat [emoji3]

Bought my P01 a year ago and mine is the same. Inside the lettering on the slide is very rough and the frame lettering looks to be stamped rather than etched.

Even the polycoat finish on my slide is very rough/matt compared to the frame finish and it burnishes very easily.

Because the picture is really big. Try reducing the zoom level.

The finish on my New SP-01 is sort of more matte also unlike my New P-01 Omega. I’m cool with it though. Both have functioned 100%.

I posted this pic on a different thread pretty much noticing the same thing.  My 2016 75 has smoother lettering and a lighter polycoat look than my 2020 75 Retro. The pic captures some of the difference, but it is more apparent in person.   I don't mind the new look, but I prefer the older version, not by much though.

I don't mind the changes if it's the new norm, I just thought I had one with a cosmetic defect.

Glad to know it's not just mine.

This is typical of metal framed CZ's. They really are not "highly" finished and the polycoat is basically just a chemical resistant epoxy paint. This saves a whole lot of time in the finishing process since they don't have to polish and smooth things up such as would be done if the gun were going to be blued. If CZ was to change one thing on the old models I'd love to see them move to nitriding like they do on the P-07/09 and the new polymer line. That's a nice finish and it wears like iron.
