My eyes have issues. Can't see the iron sights without glasses (can see the target fine). Red dots like my Aimpoints and others are slightly blurry with my glasses on and really while looking without my glasses.
The other day I saw a thread on similar issues on another forum and someone suggested the Primary Arms SLX optics.
I took a look at them and finally ordered an SLX Mico Prism in 1X. Green reticle rather than red.
It came in the other day. Haven't put it on a rifle yet.
One thing different about every other red dot I have is I can adjust the ocular lens so the reticle is nice and clear without glasses. I set up all my scopes that way, for use/shooting with my glasses in my pocket (or on the bench).
The reticle will take some getting used to but at least it's a nice clear/sharp reticle.
The eye relief is advertised to be from 2 to 7 inches, so that should make it easier to have where you want it on the rail.
It has an etched reticle. So even if the battery goes dead or there is an electrical issue of some kind, the reticle is still visible/usable. It's just black instead of green. That appealed to me, too. I like back ups for what ifs.
I've never been impressed with my groups with a red dot on a rifle. I much prefer a scope. My groups are better with scopes. But this reticle has the chevron design with a nice little point at the top. I can shoot nice groups with my ARs that have the SUIT optics on them (pointer with a tip that comes down from the top of the field of view) because I can put the point/tip on the target more easily/repeatably. I'm hoping the upturned point/tip of this optic will be similar.
Oh, one other thing. It comes with a combination of spacers/screws so you can set the optic above the rail anywhere from just over 1 inch to just over 2 inches so you get the height that you like for cowitnessed back up sights.
Now, to pick a rifle/carbine and get to the range for sight in and see how I like it.
