Tristar S120 value?
« on: November 09, 2021, 10:58:01 PM »
Been offered a gently used Tristar S120 for $475. :o Was told it was a deal since they aren’t available and a CZ 75 goes for $600. I remember these going for $300ish when I purchased my last ones. Guess times really have changed.

Good guns but I’d be closer to $375-$400, maybe $425 depending on condition. Make a cash offer and see what shakes out. 9 times outta 10 money talks.

Oh I agree about the price. They called me up because I like CZs. Already have a couple in the safe for future projects. Now I’m tempted to sell or trade them off. (Me, being an expert manipulator of high finance and all, and realize my Capital gains!)

Sadly I Remember when a CZ 75, or any CZ model, was looked down on and prices were ridiculously cheap. Certainly the value of the dollar internationally, rising import fees and production costs have gone up, but it was great for awhile.

Actually, Guns.com has brand new S-120's listed at $454.99, and has them in stock.  Must have arrived on the last boat.
However, that probably does not include shipping, taxes, and FFL cost.
https://www.guns.com/firearms/handguns/semi-auto/tristar-s-120-steel-9mm-luger-(9x19-para)-double-action-17-1-rounds-4-7-barrel-new?p=296174&avad=247745_a24cbf0c9&utm_source=AvantLink&utm_campaign=39877&utm_medium=df_NA

Sligtly used, I would price it out at $425 or less.  As with any used firearm, condition is what is most important.
Haggle with them and see what happens.

I do remember when these could be had for around $360 to $380 new, but those were the Good Old Days.

Actually that’s $455 + $14 gun processing fee + tax (8% for me) + $20 (my FFL fee). So out the door it’s $526. They are shipping free (Veterans Day sale) but I wouldn’t be shocked to see shipping insurance tacked on during checkout. Kind of the same deal I saw when looked at gun broker. Oddly enough when you search for Completed listings no one has bought any recently at these prices.

I’m not in the market for a new or used CZ or clone but starting to think the $475 isn’t all that terrible.

Is this a local gun store or pawn shop? Either way, walk in and slap down $400 cash and see what happens.

I would offer $350 and not pay more than $400 based on tracking the handful of used L-120s (alloy frame version) sold on GunBroker for the last year or so.

I’d actually pay more for an L model. Obviously that’s just me. If they sold well originally they wouldn’t have been discontinued. Once you handle one you realize what a true gem it is! All the ergonomics of a CZ 75, but the weight of a polymer gun. A joy to carry and shoot.
