Today I finished lining the interior with carpet. I just bought the inexpensive (53 cents a sq. foot) indoor/outdoor carpet from Home Depot. A 30" x 12' piece was more than adequate. A quart of good ol' Henry's carpet adhesive worked great for sticking it down. A little stinky, but that will go away. There wasn't room under the latch and rods for the carpet, so that area got covered with some gray formica that I had. I suppose paint would have worked too.
Now to get to work on the shelves!

I'm not quite sure what your plans are, as far as shelving...but following this very much. Keep updating  ;D
It's not saving any water if you have to flush it over and over....

I've had my eye on these wire pistol hangers for a while, so I ordered some a couple weeks ago. They slip over the shelf and the barrel slides on to the bottom rod. They're vinyl coated to prevent damage. Space saving and inexpensive to boot.

I made the shelves from 3/4" cherry ply and added a 3/4" x 1" face. It adds a little strength and keeps the hangers from flopping around. The shelves are 10" deep and notched around the uprights to keep them from sliding forward.

I'm calling this project done! The hangers don't play well with the big Redhawk, and they don't accommodate red dots either, so I added a six gun rack on the top shelf for those. The hangers do work for everything from .22 through .45 auto. Hmmm, looks like there's room for a few more!

Came together well. The pistol hangers are interesting. Nice use of normally lost space.

Thought I'd post a quick update. The locker itself is working great but, thanks to the marvel of flash photography, the pics don't show really how dark it is in there. I tried one of those battery operated closet lights stuck on the door, but it was about useless. So I ordered a 16' led battery powered strip light to try. It runs on 3 AA batteries, is sticky backed, and forms nicely around the door opening. And man do they light it up!

For 15 bucks they were well worth it.
