Washers on grip screws?
« on: January 27, 2022, 03:18:37 AM »
I have seen some grip screws have toothed washers and some have none. Was there a specific application for the washers? Which grips used them, wood, plastic or rubber?

What gun? I have not had washers on any of my CZ 75 variants in fact the only pistol I have that came with washers that way are my Beretta models.

I shoot 10 to 15k rounds a year through SP-01 Shadows.    I've used washers and tiny orings to keep my screws tight on LOK grips.    On rubber grips, I wouldn't expect you to need them.
Don't mistake my high post count for knowledge or wisdom.   I just like hearing myself type.

My 75B and both SP-01's came with toothed washers.  I don't remember on the others but I now use o-rings instead of washers on all my grips.

I've never had a grip loosening issue with a CZ but 1911's are another story. I use Challis grip bushings and o rings on all my 1911's now.

No washers or o-rings on the grip screws of any CZ pistol I've bought, old, new, plastic or rubber grips.

But, if I were going to use something to help stop grip screws from loosening, I'd try the o-rings first.  That won't damage the grips and it should hold.  The o-ring on the barrels of the suppressor ready pistols have done an outstanding job of keep that thread protector tight and in place.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I lost a screw on a pre-b with plastic grips and when searching for a replacement, I see some are offered with the toothed washers. I was just wondering if they were recommended or OEM on any particular type of grip so I could decide if I needed them or not.
As I didn't buy it new, I couldn't say if a previous owner removed them or if they were even original equipment or not.

I tend to use them on G10 or plastic grips, it’s just a variation of a lock washer. They can be used as a spacer also to get a desired grip screw depth, sometimes if the screws go too deep they can interfere with the main/hammer springs function.

Just got new grips from LOK for my A-01 and Browning Buckmark.  The A-01 does not use washers or o-rings but LOK included new screws and o-rings for the Buckmark.

I use them some don't.
