I just shot my SP-01 today with the CGW steel guide rod and 12# spring. Recoil is very very smooth. 100% function.

Steve, yes with the rod installed without the spring, the end of the rod stuck out just a bit. Did not seem abnormal.
So it did not stick out excessively,to implicate an exaggerated length of guide rod.

Seebee62, great! Glad yours functions as it should!!

I just sent it back. But gave it yet another try(with the CGW #13RS). Still no cigar.
Thanks!!

Just recalled how to add pictures.
Here is the deal. Again,I returned the SS rod. It would not go beyond the barrel lugs so it was impossible to center into slide hole. All methods of installation attempted.

My CGW guide rod would do the same thing. I just wiggle it until it gets in the clearance hole. It takes a couple of seconds but it always goes in.

Mine is the same. You just have to maneuver into position and bring it home.

I just thought of this. Maybe try a few drops of gun oil or CLP on the tip of the guide rod or around the inside of the slide where the hole is it. I may try it next time I clean my SP-01. I usually don’t have a issue with it.

Fortunately it works with some pistols, just not mine.
I tried everything methodically and judiciously..
I did my own CGW full upgrades (see my recent post) ,so I am not exactly an "all thumbs bubba" sort of sod, LOL! I even did try light gun grease on the rod.
I just bought three polymer guide rods for the SP01 for the price of the single SS rod, that is now returned.
Bought some extra flat wire springs also. Works for me.

Oils well,that end well !!
Thanks!

Which is why I will stay with the factory engineered guide rods in all of my CZ's.
