Before I post something in marketplace
« on: March 30, 2022, 10:57:53 AM »
Have never used the marketplace to sell a firearm.
I have bought a firearm or two on-line over the years.
So if I post, what is the normal payment, authentication, etc. Process. I know I would have to use an FFL to ship and I know I would have to ship to another FFL.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I took payment via PayPal.  But it all depends on what arrangements the buyer and seller are both agreeable to.

I personally don't care how they pay, but nothing ships until I have been paid.

Only needs to ship from an FFL if that is required in your state or it is required in the recipients' state. Otherwise you can use the Post Office to ship long guns and a common carrier to ship handguns.

Payment is whatever you want, with the exception of Bitcoin, Zelle, Venmo, or similar methods of payment. We do not permit them on this forum as they offer no protection to either party. Paypal, Check, USPS MO are fine, although why anyone would want to use Paypal with their known anti-2nd Amendment policies is beyond me. Be advised, if they realize you are selling firearms, firearm parts, or accessories, they will cancel your Paypal account. Personally, I use USPS money orders, but nothing ships until payment is received and authenticated at the Post Office.

Appreciate the feedback. Points to ponder. Won't be using Paypal. Even if I could those other payment methods bitcoin, etc., don't know enough about them, plus read the rules in the marketplace "read first" post.
Haven't posted a picture in this forum in a while, so gotta figure that out.

welcome,

i sell on other sites... but heres what i do...take or leave...

 > take alot of photos..A picture is worth a thousand words..

 > state teh history of the gun as much as you know.  what comes with the gun, what doesnt.

 > if there is a reason why you want to sell, state it.

 > did you or someone mod the gun?  If so what?  do you have any of the OEM parts to put it back to OEM?

 > if there are any defects, i would state so.

 > is the Gun SOLD AS-IS ? or will you guarantee it for whatever someone may do to it or not?

 > payment?  thats up to you.  Its YOUR SALE!   But consdier how many different ways to get shafted.    I use USPS MO since its cash.

 > Checks may work, but will you wait for it to clear?  Also if so, make sure you state.

 > STATE EVERYTHING so there are no ????? for anyone or minimize.

 > Shipping?  who pays?

 > Insurance?  who pays.  Most/some shippers will pay for the first 300 bucks or so and its included in the price of shipping, but after x many dollars in value, they may charge per 100 upto a point.  But you need to figure out how you will do the shipping.

 > USPS is nice if you can ship via PRIORITY MAIL and they will GIVE you the box.  But do your homework.  There are FLAT RATE boxes and NOT.

 > UPS has a FLAT RATE too, but you need to do your homework on what will work out for you and your needs.

 > make sure you have a way to COMMUNICATE with any possible buyer.

good luck

Bang Bang, GREAT suggestions.  I also sell a lot on other sights and occasionally here and every one of those are important to consider.
When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?
