Found primers...in Texas?
« on: April 25, 2022, 01:41:59 AM »
Vacation in the deep woods of East Texas, found a little gunshop called Sportsman's Outfitters in Longview and they had PRIMERS. Lots of them! Bought 1000 SPP, paid too much, but I can't find them out here. Also had Reloder 7 powder. The neat thing was how nice and helpful all the staff were, and they had GUNS, LOTS of guns, even some I'd only seen in magazines, like B&T pistols. Fully stocked, way off the beaten path.

I haven't seen primers here since this silliness began. Supposedly Scheels had some rifle primers this weekend at $130 a 1000. I didn't see them so I can't state if this was true or not. At $130 for 1000 I wouldn't have been buying. Powder, brass and bullets as well as the more common factory loads and rimfire have been showing up somewhat regularly for a while now locally.

Congratulations!  :)  Glad you found some Primers!  8)  Around here, the shelves are bare of most Reloading Supplies.  :(

Fortunately, I still have a good Supply from a few years ago.  ;)

Congrats on the score!

I'm hesitant to say this because I don't want to jinx it but it seems that primers and powder are starting to become more available.  I've been able to purchase CCi450's and Rem 9 1/2 locally.  They were overpriced but not as bad as purchasing online and paying hazmat.  My local suppliers have been getting them in more regularly and they are staying on the shelf long enough for me to purchase them, that is my sign that it is starting to ease.

Cheers,
Toby
