9mm XM1152 & XM1153 ammo
« on: May 03, 2022, 11:51:37 AM »

I was reading a very good book called "Infantry Small Arms of the 21st Century" by Leigh Neville (very impressive read where he discusses ammunition extensively before he discusses the weapons) and in the portion on handguns he mentions the new XM1153 "special purpose" ammo for the US military which appears to be a 9mm JHP.

Has anyone gotten a chance to shoot these rounds or compare them to commercially available JHPs? I am wondering if they bought these from a manufacturer off-the-shelf or did they actually invent something new.

Thanks for sharing. Hadn't seen these rounds.

Would be great if they finally made an open tip hollow point that continues to behave like a hollow point after impacting dry wall or wood.

That's some high pressure for the Army to be running through those Sig pistols...

I'll stick with my Guard Dog and G2.

Yes, but that's my point, doesn't that pretty much describe a Federal HST or Speer Gold Dot?

You mean rounds that behave like FMJs after passing through media? Yes, I agree. Would be interesting to know if those rounds solve that problem.
