P-01 versus the P-01 Omega
« on: July 22, 2022, 05:48:43 PM »
I'm a satisfied P-01 carrier but my P-01 is coming up on 20 years and I'm looking for an excuse to buy a new one.  I would appreciate any pro's or con's about the P-01 Omega over the P-01.  Thanks for any input.

Am sure others will chime in, but as an owner of both a P01 Omega and a PCR, here are my thoughts:

1- the trigger on the omega is straighter in profile- I prefer it over the stock trigger
2- the rear sight is different on the omega and extends to the back of the slide extending sight radius by a small amount ( likely no real advantage)
3- the omega can be changed from MS to decocker and back. I prefer decockers so never changed mine, but is nice to have options.
4 direction of the omega decocker manipulation is different- similar to disengaging a 1911 safety
5- the P01 reportedly one can tune the original action to a more refined trigger pull.  Both my omega and PCR are cajunized & I honestly can’t tell the difference

My take is it all comes down to personal preferences and what you value more.  I prefer m Omega just a slight degree over my PCR, but only for personal preferences on the trigger shape and flexibility.  If you need an excuse to buy one see above.

Does the trigger on the P-01 Omega break farther to the rear than on the PCR? I wanted to love the P-07, but the trigger breaks so far to the rear that I struggle to use it.

The one P-01 Omega that I dry fired seemed really really nice (I have Cajunized Omega triggers before...they are certainly top notch).

I have a Shadow Line Compact, so nothing really compares to it...however, since I only use a manual safety, I really am considering a P-01 Omega Suppressor Ready (if I ever find one again).

To be honest, I have not noticed any issue with the trigger break being too far back or not.  One of the reasons I am a CZ fan is the ergos which for me includes the trigger placement.

I have cz straight triggers on my p01 and p07. Both are Cajunized and the triggers feel almost identical. Both seem to break a little after 90 degrees though I’ve never been bothered by it

I would compare the Omega decocker to classic Sigs, since both are on the frame.  But also similar direction to slide decockers like Beretta or Bersa Thunder, etc.

That's the reason why my P01 is purposefully an Omega.

[/quote]Dry fired a P-01 Omega yesterday. It's much better than the P-07/P-09...and I like the P-07/P-09 a lot. P-01 Omega does not break as far to the rear. It's just right for me, and if you don't like the trigger profile, get the curved version from CGW.

I won't carry a decocker gun, so the Omega is the only option for an off-the-shelf Compact, Manual Safety gun with a rail.
