CZ75 Mossad?
« on: June 20, 2022, 09:26:42 AM »
I honestly couldn't decide if this should go in the CZ75 Fullsize, Compact or Clone sections, so mods  please feel free to move this as you see fit.

We're all probably familiar with the Tanfoglio MOSSAD pistols - the full-size TA90 with the large block lettering and big star of David on the slide. At a gun show yesterday a fairly large dealer had a decent CZ section. Among the selection was a Witness 9, a worn P-01, and next to that a pistol tagged as a "CZ75 Mossad". Say what? I asked to look at it and sure enough, the slide was marked CZ75b Mossad (not all caps) and a small star of David after that. And it was a compact, non-railed, safety gun. The markings all looked factory and, while it certainly looked CZish, to me it looked more like a Tanfo. It had a horrible overspray refinish on it to boot. I was tempted to buy it just for the uniqueness, but not at his firm $675 price.

Has anyone else ever seen one like this?

I think CZ did a contract run. Years ago I looked at a semi compact but turned it down thinking it was a Tang. Then found about the limited run. Could be wrong, usually am, lucky to remember what I had for breakfast. Personally the price is crazy: It’s a collectible piece in terrible condition.

Yeah, the condition called for a full restoration job. I wanted to take a few pics but the dealer freaked out when I asked.

welcome

if your google-fu is strong you may find them for sale from time to time.

i guess if the "MOSSAD" floats your boat, then go for it.  No rules/laws saying you cant.

im not a big fan of buying stuff for the blingz, but i can understand that shiny/symobls can get the "buy me" juices going.  Its just not me and i dont have enough $$$ to do so anyway, so i am really careful about what i buy.  But what i consider is that you have a CZ.  Its the gun underneath that MOSSAD that will do the work, not the lettering on the slide.

what i go for is the price.  At one time you could get used CZs for at the time, inexpensive price.  And thats what would get me.

good luck

Oh I have no desire to purchase it. It was just something I had never seen before and had no idea if it was real or fake, albeit a good one.

I don't recall ever seeing a CZ "Mossad", only Tanfos. The closest thing I can think of is the CZ 75 SC Massada that had a menorah stamped on the slide.

OK so my old eyes and brain were working to deceive me at that show. I ran across this one that DWJ has on GB, and it is the same as what the guy had at the show - not MOSSAD with a star of David, but MASSADA with a menorah. There are several theories floating around about these, the most plausible to me is that they were a small special run for the rangers at the Masada Temple park in Southern Israel. But the spelling on the slide has an extra S in it, so who knows. I also have to wonder why, if that's truly the case, they wouldn't have had Tanfoglio make them. Gotta love a good mystery!

It's an intriguing firearm but, even at $150 less than the guy wanted at the show, it's still too much for what I'd consider to be a project gun.

I was just about to share the link for that one too.
