P-10F Night Fision Optics Ready Sights
« on: July 13, 2022, 04:06:55 PM »
Purchased a set of these. Their website indicated they would fit on the S, C and F models. I attempted to install them today. I removed the stock rear sight without issue. I took the new rear sight and placed it in the dovetail and slowly pushed it in to see if I would need to remove any material from the bottom. To my surprise I could easily finger push it all the way through and out the other side of the slide. Too loose in my opinion. Anyone else have these installed? If so, did you experience the same issue? Did you return them or simply loctite them to the slide and tighten the set screw?

I have not had this issue, but I have worked with Night Fision customer service before and they are excellent. I would contact them.

I did contact them and their initial response was quick. They said the sights are OK and each slide is a little different. I just need to secure them with the set screw along with blue loctite. They don't realize how loose they are as I can move them easily clear across the slide through the dovetail with my fingers. Doesn't make any sense to do that seeing that they might need drifted a little after range testing. They did say I could request an RMA for return. I went that route yesterday. Haven't heard back from them as yet.
I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and if they tried to make the sights work under this circumstance.

The factory rear sight on my p10c OR is like that. No issues of drift or loosening.

Thanks for your input. When I removed the factory rear sight it required the use of a punch. I could not take it out with my fingers. Also when I reinstalled them it required the punch to put them back in place. Granted they were not as tight as others I've worked with. My original S&W M&P 9C was a bear to work with regarding sight removal.

I have Night  Fision on my P-07. They were installed by a gun smith and are excellent sights.

A friend of mine has a P-10C. He brought it over this morning and we removed the rear sight. Took the Night Fision rear sight, placed it in the dovetail, and finger slid it in. It went halfway and stopped. You could not push it in any further with your fingers. That's how it supposed to be. He wants them so that will work out for both of us. From this experience the rear dovetail on the P-10F is larger than on the P-10C. Maybe my gun in an anomaly, but just a heads up to everyone out there in case you're considering changing sights.
