Scope Mounting on 457 Lux
« on: December 27, 2022, 01:11:46 PM »
I have recently purchased a 457 Lux with iron sights. I plan an using a BSA Sweet .22 scope. My question is; is there a way to mount the scope and still be able to use the iron sights. Is there a good high profile see through mount and rings available? Please Adviseā€¦..thank you

The tall see thru scope mounts will work. But I don't have experience with any of these rings so can't offer a brand suggestion. For me these tall rings leave the scope sitting too high for me. Another option is the Talley quick detach rimfire rings. I've used these on my CZ 452 Lux with a small 2.5-7X Weaver scope and they work well for me. When I want open sights just spin the pair of QD levers and the scope and rings fit in my pocket. When the scope is wanted simply replace the scope. The rings return the scope right back to its original place without needing to re-zero. Good luck in your ring search.

Thanks for the info David. I looked on the Talley website but could not find the quick detach rimfire rings for the CZ 457. The only ones that I found on their site were the fixed rings. Am I missing something on the website or have they discontinued them?

It's always possible that the rings have been discontinued. The rifle has a 2000 date stamp, and the rings are not a whole lot younger. Looking at the Talley web page didn't seem to show the QD rimfire rings any longer. The photos show what the Talley's look like. I'm not sure who else makes rimfire QD rings. The typical rimfire tip off rings, as long as only the one side moves, will return to zero pretty well. They just don't have the convenience of the QD levers, and you need a quarter or another tool to loosen and tighten.
