CZ 75 TSO Extractor Issues
« on: August 07, 2022, 11:39:26 AM »
For a second time, my CZ 75 TSO requires warranty service for a failure to feed (FTF) issue. The first time was at 567 rounds fired and cartridges were jamming at the base of the feed ramp. Then the extractor was replaced and no further FTF issues were experienced until now. At 1,287 round fired, the FTF problem today is different. The spent shell is not being extracted so a double feed occurs at least once from every 15 rounds fired. I only fire quality factory 180 grain 40 S&W FMJ ammo and this CZ is cleaned and lightly lubricated after each firing. This is the most accurate handgun I have ever fired but this problem adds unreliability to an otherwise magnificent firearm.

Any other CZ Forum members experience this recurring problem?

Thanks for your responses.

You need the Wolff extra power extractor spring.  You will probably need to cut 3/4 of one coil off the Wolff spring.

I've had no luck with extra power extractors springs in my TSO's in 40.  The standard power is more reliable.

I'd pull out the extractor and make sure there isn't any damage on the hook face/edge.  While apart make sure to thoroughly clean the extractor channel and breach face.

One thing I just learned is you have to keep your magazines in tune.   This helps prevent the nose dive feeding issues.   I tuned the magazines originally but they apparently need periodic retuning to keep running.  If a full magazine rubs on the frame/grips when inserting you need to squeeze the magazine using dowels in the vee grooves (near the feed lips) to make sure the width is uniform from bottom to top.  I also check the front to back dimension and will adjust as needed.   I use a vise to squeeze the magazine bodies with something insulating the body from damage.

My TSO's have run nearly flawlessly for years.  Recently I've been fighting a ftf issue that I couldn't figure out because it only happened on the clock.   I replaced the extractors and springs and that didn't fix it.   Once I tuned the magazines again,  it has been resolved.

Good luck!  It's frustrating but they can and do run well more often than not.

Cheers,
Toby

Great point on checking the condition of the mags. Thanks.
