Anyone notice out of round CCI primers
« on: August 04, 2022, 02:42:37 PM »
My go to small pistol primer has been Federal 100's for the last 30 years but with the shortages lately I've been saving my Federal primers for match ammo and using what ever I could find for range ammo. Last night while loading my Dillon primer tubes with CCI 500's for a thousand round batch of 9mm I noticed a few primers wouldn't drop through a primer tube. I also noticed a few hang up in the primer slide on my xl750 the lot number on the CCI box is H24B401. I chceked several of the primers with a micrometer and found many out of round and a few egg shaped primers. I've run Fiocchi, Winchester, S&B and Ginex through this machine with no such issues. It usually takes me about an hour and a half to load and box a thousand round run last night it took about 3 hours + with all the stoppages what a PITA.
