Well we ran the Eli drill at today's USPSA.  I was able to get 8 of 10 hits on target (3 A, 4 C, 1 D, one called miss, and one miss) in 9.49 seconds.  This was shooting 8 from box A and then performing a mandatory reload and shooting 2 from box B (6ft to the right).  40yds is no joke when shooting unsupported freestyle.  If I had one less miss, I would have taken the stage as my time was 1.5 seconds faster than the winner.

Cheers,
Toby
This sounds like a more realistic way to run the drill, compared to the way most people are running it with only one target and no movement. Not to mention the added pressure of shooting it in a match setting.

Yeah the issue with this type of stage is that 75% of shooters are going to get a zero due to time or misses.

If you could incorporate more movement (forward) with more shots/points to help increase the score it would be less discouraging for novices.

Now back to the point of this drill, to test your skill at range not make it more it uspsa friendly.

Cheers
Toby

This incident will make all of us strive to do better and to always have a quality gun to do the job with.

Due to extreme heat, I haven't made it back out to do it again, but I will.
Funny thing, since I got a Remington 1858 clone in 44 caliber to go with the Pietta 1851 Navy 44, I had a buddy who asked me if I could do it with two black powder revolvers. I said figure the odds...
