? Problem with Rugged 9mm tri lug mounting
« on: August 19, 2022, 08:45:02 AM »
Hi everyone.  I have what might be an issue with my Scorpion s1 and the Rugged Obsidian 9mm tri-lug mounting.  I bought Rugged's tri-lug mount for it, and the Kaw Valley tri-lug mount.  Using both of them with the KBI flash hider adapter, 2 of Kaw Valley's own adapters, and a Angstadt  compensator adapter all allow the can to wobble, although the Kaw Valley with it's own adapter wobbles less.  I bought an alignment rod and it shows perfect centering when I point the Scorpion with the can on straight up, but the front of the can can be moved enough to strike the rod on the end cap.  Withe the scorpion in level(firing position) the front sags enough for the alignment rod to just barely clear the end cap.  Using direct thread its perfectly centered.  This is the same on my Kusa 9mm Kalashnikov.  The wobble with tri-lug is up-down-right-left  but it self centers for the most part.  Now, I would assume that on firing, recoil would lock the can tight to the lugs.  What are your opinions?  I am new to supressors.

The things that I could think may be worth checking is if the barrel side (male) adapter is tight as well as the female side on the can. Do you have any other guns you could try the fitment on, to see if it aligns correctly? I'm pretty new to this as well, but my Obsidian with Rugged female adapter lock up tight with the Silencerco male adapter on the barrel of my Micro.
One thing I didn't understand with the three lugs before is that if you compress it on against the spring and rotate it more that 60°, it will miss the lug pockets and be "loose" again- I thought it was more like a camera lens bayonet mount, just with spring retention.

It does this on my Scorpion and my Kp-9 Kalishnakov.  The adapter is tight to the gun, as is the mount to the supressor.  I bought a rugged adapter also and it still wobbles a bit.  This is frustrating.

I just got an email from Rugged and they said it's a non issue.  The supressor has a lifetime warranty, so time to just shoot it.
